Detroit Mayor Dave Bing has issued what he calls a “call to action” against crimes, specifically violent crimes. He has issued this “call to action” because of the rise of violent crimes in the past 24 hours. Within the last day there was nine killed and six wounded from violent gun crimes. Now federal, state and local law enforcement is asking of Detroit citizens to be the “eyes and ears” of Detroit and try to help lower these crimes.
“We have to be upset. We have to be outraged at some of the things going on,” Bing also added today.
230 murders occured in Detroit this year which is ten more then 2010. However, crime has still dropped in the city of Detroit, but the homicides, sadly, have yet to drop.
Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette and his office will be playing a part in helping out by making sure these violent and dangerous criminals will not be released early.
“Another thousand police officers are not going to stop some of the crimes going on,” he said. “We must all take the responsibility for doing our part.”
